How to Submit a Custom Label Based on Productifi Requirements

Submitting your label correctly ensures high-quality printing and avoids delays or rejections. This guide walks you through everything you need to prepare your file according to Productifi standards.

1. Understand the Label Layout

Before designing your label, it’s important to understand the three key zones:

  • Bleed Line

The outer edge of your design. Background colors or images must extend to this area to avoid white edges after cutting.

  • Die Line (Final Size)

The exact size of your final printed label. This is where the label will be cut.

  • Safe Zone

The inner area where all important content (text, logos) must stay to avoid being cut off.

2. Use the Correct Dimensions

For your label, Productifi requires:

  • Die Size: 2.250" x 6.000"
  • Bleed Size: 2.375" x 6.125"
  • Safe Zone: 2.125" x 5.875"

Key Rule:

  • Extend backgrounds to the bleed line
  • Keep text inside the safe zone

3. Set Up Your File Properly

When creating your design file:

  • Use 300 DPI minimum (Productifi recommends high resolution for best quality)
  • Set your canvas to the bleed size, not just the final size
  • Use CMYK color mode for accurate printing
  • Export as PDF (print-ready)

4. Follow Font & Design Guidelines

To ensure readability and print quality:

  • Use fonts at least 5pt or larger
  • Make sure all fonts are:
    • Embedded in the file OR
    • Converted to outlines
  • Ensure all images/logos are:
    • High resolution
    • Embedded (not linked)

5. Include Required Supplement Label Content

If your label is for a dietary supplement, make sure it includes:

  • Supplement Facts panel
  • Serving size and servings per container
  • Ingredients list
  • Suggested use
  • Caution statements
  • FDA disclaimer:“These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration…”
  • Manufacturer or distributor information

⚠️ Missing regulatory content can result in rejection.

6. Perform a Final Pre-Submission Check

Before submitting, go through this checklist:

✅ Artwork matches required dimensions

✅ Background extends to bleed line

✅ All important elements are inside the safe zone

✅ Resolution is at least 300 DPI

✅ Fonts are embedded or outlined

✅ Images are embedded

✅ File is exported at 100% scale (no resizing)

7. Export & Submit Your File

  • Export your file as a print-ready PDF
  • Do not scale the file during export
  • Double-check alignment and margins
  • Upload the file according to Productifi’s submission process

8. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • ❌ Text too close to edges
  • ❌ Missing bleed (causes white borders)
  • ❌ Low-resolution images
  • ❌ Fonts not embedded
  • ❌ Incorrect dimensions
  • ❌ Scaling the file before submission

Final Tip

Always print a test version (or preview at 100%) before submitting. This helps you catch spacing, readability, and alignment issues early.
